We took the car to a mechanic to have it looked over with a fine tooth comb. I was expecting the mechanic to inform us that we needed to spend a lot of money just to have it road worthy and pass inspection. Not the case. We had to replace the brake shoes, master cylinder and emergency brake cable. There seems to be an issue with the transmission although the mechanic couldn't find anything visibly wrong with it. The transmission seems to be soft and slow to shift. Whether this is from lack of use or an issue with the actual transmission is unknown. After it is finished at the paint shop, we're taking it to a transmission specialist to have look at it.
The car is now sitting in the paint shop. Doug has been spending his days off helping with the sanding and prep work. He didn't realize that sanding a car down to bare metal was such hard work. We assumed a fancy sander would make a painters job so much easier. Not the case! By the end of the day his fingers, hands, arms and shoulders ached. Again, is this from lack of use? Sorry hun. My bad.
There is still some work to be done before it's ready for the primer. There is a small hole in the trunk that needs repaired and some bondo was found on the rear quarter and in the front . Most likely from a small accident .. perhaps burning wheels at a high speed and losing control of the car.. who knows .. but nothing major was found.
We were thinking about painting the car entirely Moulin Rouge and having the hood done in black as well as black striping along the side but Doug found a picture of a car (shown below) with an amazing paint job that he thinks would look great on our car. The colour scheme will be the same .. moulin rouge and black. Opinions are welcomed!

That is all for now folks. More updates to come. I have included pictures of Doug's hard work below. And remember ... Mopar or No Car !
